Super Mario Odyssey Schooled: Miyamoto Wants To Dare More In The Next Mario 3D

With over 22 million copies sold since its debut, Super Mario Odyssey is one of the greatest commercial successes in the video gaming universe of the Nintendo plumber.

A circumstance that apparently led the creator of the character to imagine an even more daring future for the good Mario. In the margins of the presentation of the latest financial results of the Kyoto giant, Shigeru Miyamoto suggested this intention in answering the questions raised by investors.

When questioned about the differences between the 2D and 3D series of Super Mario, the creative volcanic emphasized the level of accessibility of the two experiences. The three-dimensional adventures, he pointed out, had originally a minor appeal to the public than those in two dimensions. The latter, Miyamoto says, actually boasted a higher level of accessibility, at least in the early 2000s. The situation, he continued, seems to have changed definitively, with Super Mario Odyssey who earned the favor of a huge audience of fans.

For this reason, looking at the next chapter of the saga (and why not, maybe just a Super Mario Odyssey 2), Miyamoto concluded that “for Mario’s future 3D, we want to try to further expand the series in new ways
