Semiconductor Crisis, 2022 Starts Badly: Fire In An Asml Plant In Berlin

While intel has received unconfident opinions that predict the continuation of the semiconductor crisis until 2023, an unfortunate circumstance is struck on the sector.

After two years of production crisis associated with the international health crisis, 2022 has not in fact started in the best way. From Germany, the news of the explosion of a fire comes at one of the production sites associated with ASML, a Dutch company leader in the production of the machinery needed to create chips. The factory, located in Berlin, caught fire on January 3, fortunately without causing damage to employees and personnel.

The DUV machine department was strongly impressed, which has been blocked until today, when ASML announced that it was able to restore part of the German production chain. More critical is the condition of the departments intended for the manufacture of the still blocked EUV plants. ASML claims to have already developed a plan for the complete restoration of the Berlin factory, with further updates that will be shared by the end of the month.

The international crisis related to semiconductor production, as we know, is having an impact on the production of a lot of tech products, from PS5 and Xbox Series X, through hardware components of PC and, recently, also the Canon printer cartridges.
