Even the best are wrong: Imane “Pokimane” Anys, one of the most popular Twitch streamers with 8,5 million followers, was banged by Twitch for the first time in her life yesterday. Why?
The reasons for the suspension were not officialized, but there seems to be little doubt about it: yesterday Pokimane broadcast the popular Avatar series: The Last Airbender without authorization, thus breaking the DMCA (Digital Millenni) During the broadcast of the Nickelodeon series there were 25,000 connected viewers: the “TV meta” is quickly getting consensus on Twitch, so it is not uncommon to see streamers commenting on TV series.
Pokimane obviously went too far. Well aware of his mistake, he commented on Twitter writing “The Fire Nation attacked” a reference to a popular meme that Avatar fans know all too well. The 25-year-old Moroccan/Canadian woman, in any case, will not be far from Twitch for a long time, since the suspension lasts only 48 hours. Not surprisingly, Pokimane has already anticipated all his followers that Monday will return in style on his Twitch channel with a live of 12 hours. Twitch usually grants three suspensions for DMCA before proceeding to the permanent ban.
In 2020, Pokimane signed an exclusive contract with Twitch, rejecting the competition offers (at the time there was still Mixer). This, of course, did not make it untouchable. In these years, Pokimane has often criticized controversial ASMR practices and the trend hot tub made popular by colleagues such as Indiefoxx and Amouranth.
