Pokimane Against Sexism: Just Use Beauty To Discredit The Streamers

Imane “Pokimane” Anys, one of Twitch’s most popular and popular streamers, did not start 2022 on the right foot, having already been the victim of harassment and hate raids. His followers were not surprised when, yesterday, she launched herself into an invective against rampant sexism on the streaming platform.

Reconnecting to an old issue that has already been addressed in the past, which has seen her respond to detractors who believe that her success is due only to her beautiful appearance, Pokimane has declared herself sick of all the people who diminish the work of the streamers only “Why do people like to use someone’s beauty as a weapon against her? They say things like ‘people follow you just because of your looks, and they want to take you to bed.” For starters, this is rude and vulgar. Nobody asked you to.”

“Even if a person finds a streamer attractive, what’s the problem? What’s wrong with finding some hots?”, Pokimane asks himself. To reinforce her thinking, the 25-year-old Moroccan/Canadian explained that this never happens for male actors, who, even if they have a big fanbase built thanks to their appearance, never become targets of criticism of this kind “Nobody goes to one of them and says your fan base thinks you’re handsome.”

He does not pay, he continued: “Why is [beauty] used as a reason to discredit the work of the streamers? That’s what I don’t understand. They never go to an actor to say it sucks just because his audience thinks it’s beautiful.”

Pokimane, remember, is withdrawn from a 48-hour ban on Twitch, remedied for transmitting scenes of Avatar: The Last Airbender without permission.
