PokéMon Sword And Shield On Game Boy Color? Here’s The Creative Demake

While Nintendo players are waiting to get their hands on Legends Pokémon Arceus, coming on Switch on January 28, 2022, a fan enjoyed reinterpreting eighth generation games in retro key

This is what the Pixel Artist Sindorman asked himself, who through his Twitter profile shared some short clips he made showing the two games in 8-bit, just as if they had come out of an old Game Boy. Two scenes represented by the artist, among the most symbolic of Sword and Shield: the moment when you receive your Starter choosing between Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble, and the meeting with Team Yell

The graphics are obviously inspired by what has been seen in the now legendary Pokémon Gold and Silver, with well-kept sprites that seem to come out directly from the second generation titles. The background music is also taken from the GBC games originally released in Japan in 1999, for what is another welcome encounter between past and present. Of course, we are not facing a real demake like those designed for other famous recent productions (in this regard, have you seen the demake PS1 by Elden Ring?), but Sindorman’s work is undoubtedly noteworthy

Back to the episodes released on Switch, did you know that the development of Pokémon Sword and Shield was very troubled?
