Metroid Dread Is The Best Game Of 2021 For Time: Here Is The Top 10

The year is coming to an end and it is time to add up: the prestigious Time magazine has compiled a ranking with those that, according to its editorial staff, represent the best video games released during 2021. To occupy the first position is an exclusive for Nintendo Switch.

It was an incredibly difficult year for the video game world, noted Eliana Dockterman, Patrick Lucas Austin and Alex Fitzpatrick in their introduction. Many titles have been delayed because of the pandemic, while several realities are facing serious accusations of harassment and unfair behaviour against employees. Activision-Blizzard, denounced by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, seems to be the worst, but Ubisoft and Riot Games have also received such accusations.

The quality, fortunately, has not been missed, as evidenced by the ten video games that occupy the Top 10 compiled by Time. The best one according to the US editorial staff was Metroid Dread: the exclusive Nintendo Switch developed by MercurySteam, awarded as best action-adventure at the Game Awards 2021, has put behind titles

“After a decade without a real Metroid game, Samus has returned in style. […] Dread, which long-time manufacturer Yoshio Sakamoto has hatched for almost two decades, is often legitimately frightening – though not at the level of Alien Isolation – and a delightful return for a classic and beloved franchise.”
