Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Rise has reached and exceeded eight million copies distributed, a number that includes both physical drives and digital downloads from Nintendo eShop and Steam.
The game placed four million units in the first week in March, then reaching five million copies in early April and exceeding six million units sold at the end of the month. At the end of May, the number of copies distributed was seven million. To compare, Monster Hunter World sold five million pieces in the first week to place then 8.3 million at the end of the sixth month of market presence.
The Monster Hunter series officially started in 2004 with the first episode on PS2 and has sold more than 78 million pieces to date, being extremely popular in Japan and gaining ever more success in the West. Monster Hunter Rise was released in March 2021 exclusively on Nintendo Switch while the PC version was released on January 13, 2022 with 4K support, graphic filters and other advanced features. Capcom will continue to support the game and during the summer the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak expansion will come, more details are expected in the coming months.
