Hidetaka Miyazaki has been granted in a new interview with EDGE during which he has revealed numerous details and insights about Elden Ring, the new ambitious action-RPG of FromSoftware. After explaining the reasons for the game’s postponement, the director who became for the Dark Souls series spoke about the main influences of his new work.
Miyazaki confirmed that the Lord of the Rings of Tolkien has certainly played an important role in the creation phases of the world of Elden Ring, but also Michael Moorcock’s Eternal Champion is one of his major influences.

The Japanese author then discussed the creative process with the creator of Le Cronache del Ice e del Fuoco, George R.R. Martin. He defined the myth created by the writer as a “constant source of inspiration and momentum” and “the greatest change” from the series of Dark Souls that allowed him to build something new.
Miyazaki also explained that George R. R. Martin worked exclusively on Elden Ring’s lore, and not on his plot and dialogues, so that he had no restraint in his creative phase, and was not subject to the needs of the gamep
