Mateusz Kanik, Polish developer who worked at Cyberpunk 2077 as Design Director and Principal Designer, left Projekt RED CD after 15 years of collaboration.

Although the causes of separation are unknown, the departure may have simply resulted from the physiological need for new adventures of a developer who spent 15 years of his life in the same studies. Mateusz Kanik joined the CD Projekt RED in 2006 and worked as Junior Game Designer for the first The Witcher. During the development of the game he was promoted to Senior Game Designer, and then became Lead Gameplay Designer during the workmanship of The Witcher 2: The Assassins of Kings. Kanik never worked actively at The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, since he was employed immediately on Cyberpunk 2077 as Game Director, a role that he then split into Design Director and Principal Des Kanik has kept both positions until the beginning of this month: now he looks like a Freelance Game Developer.
