Atlus Will Publish A Big Game In 2022: Is It Persona 6 Or Project Re Fantasy?

As every year, Famitsu has involved the protagonists of the Japanese video gaming industry in an interview to learn about future plans for software houses and creatives in view of 2022, now on the way.

Among the developers asked by Famitsu, we also find Shinjiro Takada, product manager of Atlus and responsible for some of the most important franchises for the Japanese company, including Shin Megami Tensei and Etrian Ody As regards the ambitions he has for the new year, Takada said:

“I chose “challenge” as the keyword for 2022, with the hope of publishing a game that will become a pillar for Atlus. All of us at Atlus are working hard to develop this game so it’s interesting and satisfying for everyone, so wait for it with enthusiasm.”

Although not making explicit names, Takada clearly suggests that this will be a project of primary importance for Atlus. With Shin Megami Tensei V still fresh publication on Switch, the first name to pop in mind is undoubtedly the Person 6. It is true that the title has not yet been officially presented, and therefore an immediate release in 2022 may appear to be quite forced.

It is named after Project Re Fantasy, an RPG on which the company has been working for several years, but of which we have not heard for some time. Atlus confirmed that the game will recall themes and atmospheres of traditional Japanese role-playing games, and that it will deviate from the style of Person. At this point, we just have to wait and find out what Atlus has in store for next year.
