Microsoft has never clearly unbalanced the possible arrival of Age of Empires 4 on the Xbox family consoles. Last year, Creative Director Adam Isgreen admitted that he still doesn’t have clear ideas about a possible conversion for consoles of a game whose size is clearly PC-sized.
With Age of Empires 4 finally on the market and a lot of patches already fed to the community, it seems that Relic Entertainment and World’s Edge have finally found some time and quiet to think about conversion. A recent discovery by Lumia Update Managers, who identified a new console app in the Xbox Insider Hub, codenamed “XIP_CAR” gives hope to all console players. CAR seems to be the abbreviation of Cardinal, i.e. the identifier assigned to Age of Empires 4 during processing. It is therefore possible that the development team is testing the console version of the strategy in real time, although we cannot be 100% sure at the moment.
Would you like to play Age of Empires 4 on Xbox? We understand perfectly the difficulties resulting from a conversion of a game like this, since it would require a deep redesign of the entire interface and control system, clearly designed for use with mouse and keyboard. Anything is possible, however, so we are patiently waiting for an announcement from Redmond’s house. Meanwhile, if you haven’t done so yet, please check the game by reading our review of Age of Empires 4 for PC.
